May already?

The concepts are flowing nicely, and it's time to move on to development. Here's your heads up, there will be lots of sneak peeks headed your way! I should have something substantial to present by May 18th. At this rate of creation, I expect to be finished by late July, but no promises seeing I've never finished a complete game before.

If I haven't already expressed this, it is a GBA-style RPG. It won't be immensely complex or sophisticated, and the gameplay won't be too difficult. It focuses more on over world puzzles then on battles. During the game, one of the goals will be to finish the game with as many people in your party as possible. As of now, there are 15 worlds and 10 characters (subject to change). I can promise that the worlds will not be anything like you've seen before...

Looking forward to posting some actual content!

Design is underway!

I've just begun to brainstorm ideas for the new game. It's going to require a tremendous amount of work, but it will more than pay off. This week I won't be able to do anything besides write down ideas due to some other obligations I have but, there are a few weeks in April that I will have only light work, and more time to work on the game. Next update I'll give a few details!

Change of Plans!

I decided to drop the kart project after some careful consideration and personal schedule changes this week. I am officially commencing the project mentioned at the bottom of this post.

My Next Project...

I'm back, and over my break I planned a new game. I decided I'm going to turn my Desktop Kart Engine into a full game. I expect it to have lots of bosses, players, vehicles, tracks, trophies, power-ups, and weapons and all that good stuff. Probably, there will be a shop of some kind to buy more characters and things, but I'm not going to reveal anything quite yet, because it's not all set in stone. For now, you can check out my engine:

Paper Fred: Exhibition

Well, I'm officially throwing the towel in on this project. I was done with it along time ago...

Paper Fred: Exhibition, as the name suggests, is an engine which shows what I've learned to do using Gamemaker. It has six rooms with different arrangements. The first room is meant to look like it was drawn on paper and cut out. The later rooms show more color and depth. Though I worked on the project over the month of March, I really only spent about one week of work on it. The game will be made into a full length game in 2013.

Here is the link to the game:

If you can't play the game for whatever reason, the basic game mechanics are shown in this video.

Well, I'm off to enjoy 3 days vacation! See ya!

Fred 2nd Update

Yeah, this update shouldn't exist, but....

Last week was an absolute FAIL. I did no work whatsoever on my Fred project, and I managed to waste a lot of the time I needed to use to be productive. Great job. On the plus side, I was brainstorming some ideas for my next project. I can only hope that the time I have allotted for it will be enough to put all of my ideas into it without any errors. (That last sentence was awkward)

I'm going to have to keep dragging myself back to finish Fred once and for all. I'll release it in whatever state it's in on Friday. Wish me luck.

Fred Degrading

I think I've had my priorities misplaced. I'll admit, I'm already working on my next project, and the reality is that I don't have a whole lot of time until I plan to have it finished. And I really need it finished on time. The more I think about it, the more I cut the Fred project down in size. It wasn't going to be a full game anyway. I think I'm  going to just release it with one area.

Don't worry though! Remember, I said I was going to release a bigger and better Paper Fred in 2013? Well it will be exactly as I first envisioned Fred, how it was meant to be enjoyed. Plus, I think you'll all really love my newest project. And, yeah, it will be a full game.

Sometimes, actions speak louder than words. Time to get to work!

Fred Update

Here's a boring update for you:

Since lately I've been using lists as a means to procrastinate, I decided to make one so I can look at all the stuff I still need to do. There are 21 objects which I still need to draw, including backgrounds; 3 tilesets for the last two areas; 12 enemies, which means 4 for each area; 5 pieces of music for the entire game, which I need to compose; and 5 screens, like the title, intro, and death. Also, I need sound effects. The enemies will be the hardest because it means I have to do more coding, so I'll do them last. In the meantime, I just need to draw a lot of things. The drawing should be done by the end of this week. The whole project is not a lot of work but it does take up an enormous amount of time.
